DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Department of Clinical Biochemistry is the central biochemical laboratory of Sct. Hans in The Capital Region of Denmark, serving approximately 1,6 million people.

Being the clinical laboratory of Sct. Hans Hospital, we work to ensure daily analyses of serum, saliva and urine from patients. Our work is conducted in close collaboration with Sct. Hans Hospital clinical doctors and physicians.

We collect blood samples and record electrocardiogram (EKG) on a daily basis from Department R and Department M, in total 16 sections. We offer day-to-day analysis on samples to ensure that clinicians can act as fast as possible on the results.

We also collect blood samples and record EKG in Copenhagen every second week, on patients which are no longer patients in the hospital, but are in an outpatient treatment offer.

Our main activities include:

Φ Drug screening
Screening for Fentanyl, Tramadol, GHB, Ecstasy, Cocaine, Amphetamine, Cannabis, Benzodiazepine, Opiate and Methadone.

Φ Biochemical analyses
The laboratory helps with diagnosis and patient treatment by measuring the concentration of relevant substances in body fluids.

Φ Educational programs
We educate Sct. Hans Hospital staff in EKG and EPIC, and our department serves as a showroom for different analysis equipment.

Φ CYP-genotyping
Metabolomic profiling of individual patient’s capacity to translate medicine.
